Pirates take their bounty
Vashon cruises past King's, 65-46, for third place

Matt Kerns scored 16
points as Vashon beat King's 65-46 on Saturday for third place in the
Class 1A boys state tournament.
Alex Wegner added 15
points and John Gage 14 for the Pirates (23-4), who led 24-18 at
halftime and blew the game open with a 12-0 run early in the third
quarter.
Vashon, which beat
King's in the postseason in last year's championship game and again in
the District 1 title game last month, earned its fourth trophy in six
state trips.
Ryan Hoff scored 24
points for King's (21-8).
Vashon shot 73 percent
(11 of 15) in the second half and 62 percent (18 of 29) for the game.
King's hit just 31 percent (18 of 59) of its shots.
The Pirates sank 25 of
38 free throws in the game, including 11 of 14 tries by Gage.
King's received its
15th trophy in 22 state appearances.
